Life Lines was established eleven years ago as a Dominican Sisters Pastoral Media Project meant to give hope to the down trodden in society. The main goal of Life Lines is to evangelize through the media.  It had its first filming project of the Kutama Singing Course in August 2003 followed by the second October – November by collaboration between Glen Norah Parish and the Dominican Sisters. Life Lines has produced a documentary video of Our Lady … The Greatest Woman who ever lived. The media project has also produced two printed books, a Shona hymn book with all songs composed from 1963 and a translation of Sr. Briege M caner’s “Miracle do happen”. To date, Life Lines has produced more than 40 DVDs and CDs. Life Lines is in the process of building a Studio which will enhance the organization’s production and be of great help for income generation.

Life Lines was born in June 2003 as a Dominican Sisters Pastoral Media Project with the aim of evangelizing trough the media. The vision from inception was that Life Lines would enhance people’s lives, inspire some lives and give a life line to the listeners.  Life Lines is a tool for the spread of the Good News, evangelization.

 

Choir

In August 2003, Life Lines filmed and recorded the Kutama Singing Course, the first singing course to be professionally recorded both visual and audio on then cassettes and VHS tapes. In October and November Life Lines produced its second musical video, “Tambirai Kutenda Kwangu”, a collaboration between Glen Norah Parish and the Dominican Sisters. 2004 saw Life Lines embarking on the filming and production of the Video of Our lady…(The Greatest Woman who ever lived). A group of “Friends of Life Lines” helped not only to fundraise for the production but also in the production of Marian songs, the magnificatIon in various languages which became part of the 16 episode documentary.

As a way of fundraising and spreading the Good News in a small way, Life Lines makes other products like Mazambia (wrapping cloth) and T-shirts with a message. Life Lines also produced two books printed in Shona; first, the translation of Sr. Briege Mckenna’s “Miracle do happen” and the Shona Hymn Book “Tinokutendai Mambo”.

The staff compliment is now three permanent members with many hands Life Lines can call on whenever necessary. Through collaborations with other like minded organisations or individuals, Life Lines has effectively managed to do the great work outlined above.

The skilled and profession Life Lines crew record songs and events primarily from big Catholic gatherings like singing courses, choir competitions and congresses.

Distribution of Life Lines products is through the same gatherings, book shops, parishes and centres.

The driving force behind Life Lines is people’s hunger to listen to their church songs and watch their programmes in the comfort of their homes or cars. Life Lines offers an alternative to the national radio stations and TV by enabling Catholics and Christians to listen to listen to church music.

At the age of 11 years Life Lines is building a studio which is intended to effectively enhance the organisation’s production the organization’s production. Hence is in the process of sourcing funding to complete the building.
